baptism preparation
Christ Church regularly celebrates baptism as part of its Sunday liturgy, normally on those five days especially set aside by the Church as appropriate for baptism:
Sunday after All Saints’ Day (November)
Feast of Epiphany (January)
Easter (Spring)
Trinity Sunday (June)
follow these 5 steps
1) watch our Baptismal prep video series
Our Baptismal Prep Video Series offers the background on the “what” and “why” of baptism. Send them to the godparents too (if any) and let us know if you have any feedback or further questions.
What is the Sacrament of Baptism?
What are the Vows of Baptism?
What actually happens on the day of the Baptism?
2) read the liturgy
Read through / familiarize yourself with the service from the Book of Common Prayer and flag up any questions you may have. Feel free to also share with godparents (if any).
3) godparents?
‘Godparents’ are not required in the Episcopal Church; so whether, who or how many is really up to you. If you do wish to have godparents, they do NOT need to be Episcopalian––our only requirement is that they are themselves baptized and can make the baptismal promises in the liturgy on the candidate’s behalf.
4) Zoom call
Once you’ve worked though the baptismal videos and read through the liturgy, we will schedule a time to connect via Zoom to discuss the above, talk through the service logistics, and answer any questions you may have.
5) records information
