Join Fr Joseph and fellow parishioners for this interactive, practical workshop designed to deepen and enrich your prayer life.
Beginning with an optional experience of Contemplative Prayer (8.30am-9am, The Library), this workshop will feature a teaching from Fr Joseph about prayer in its many forms––as found in Scripture and within the life of the church. Breakout groups will then explore different aspects of and approaches to prayer, with practical tools for you to apply in your prayer life.

Workshop attendees are invited to join Vee Henderson and our Contemplative Prayer group at Christ Church, to experience this form of prayer before we even discuss it. The Contemplative Prayer practice will begin at 8:30am sharp, but attendees are encouraged to arrive by 8:20am for a quick tutorial.

Contemplative Prayer with Vee Henderson
Come learn about this method of prayer, which not just a meditation to find personal peace but rather a surrender to God's divine compassion and mercy. Longtime practitioner and leader of our Contemplative Prayer ministry at Christ Church, Vee Henderson will address what Contemplative Prayer is and isn’t, drawing on Thomas Keating’s Open Mind, Open Heart: The Contemplative Dimension of the Gospel. The workshop will conclude with an an abbreviated time of silent prayer.
Foundations for Prayer with Dennis and Shirley Ridgley
Join the leaders of our side altar and healing prayer ministries at Christ Church, Dennis and Shirley Ridgley, for an introduction to a book and prayer practice that has shaped their daily devotion. From Moving Mountains by John Eldredge––described at “part devotional, part adventure story, part field manual,” diving into the different types of prayer and addressing some of the barriers we may struggle with in our prayer lives––Dennis and Shirley will focus on a particular technique that has helped to structure their life with God.
The Daily Office with Fr. Joseph Wolyniak
One of the great treasures in the Book of Common Prayer is what’s called ‘The Daily Office’: a resource for structuring our prayer lives with morning, noonday, evening, and nighttime prayer. This breakout session will offer an introduction to praying the Daily Office, including online resources that make it accessible to all.
