For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS Week 1 - october 15, 2023

1) What were the spoken or unspoken realities about money in your household growing up? How has that formed you negatively and/or positively?

2) Jesus once said: “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21) Take a moment to reflect on where you are in your heart––your thoughts and feelings––regarding your finances right now.

Write down what comes to mind and offer that (whether it’s gratitude, envy, anxiety, joy, regret, or whatever it may be for you) up to God in prayer, acknowledging where you are right now and asking God to be with you there.

3) John Ortberg suggests: “Money and possessions are an indicator of your spiritual life.” Have you considered your household finances as a matter of whole-life discipleship? In what ways do your current financial commitments reveal the state your spiritual life?
