2023 was a momentous year. And not only because the Nuggets won their first-ever NBA championship.
Following my wife’s call as the Rector of St Thomas Medina, we embarked on what might be a first in the Episcopal Church: an Associate Rector serving as a remote member of the pastoral staff.
The Vestry’s main task for 2023 was to embark on a year of discovery through the Holy Spirit and with the guidance of Father John - how we are to live into our vision of becoming whole-life disciples of Jesus.
The Narthex is a project that began on March 15, 2020. We just didn’t know it.
On that Sunday, for the first time in its 70-year history, Christ Church closed its doors to gathered worship and suddenly pivoted to our first iteration of a livestreamed service––with a mobile phone.

Mission/Vision - To welcome, educate, integrate and relationally connect newcomers to life and ministry of Christ Church.
Christ Church is blessed with an abundance of talent and energy offering musical excellence to the Glory of God. Volunteer and staff musicians work together seamlessly each week to produce a unique blend of ancient and modern musical styles.
Ah yes, the never ending battle of “getting the word out” in our fast paced society can send a well mannered staff member like me right over the edge.
This year saw a steady increase in activities at Christ Church, and the Facilities Team was up for the task of preparing inviting, comfortable and functional spaces.
Community events play an important role in our goal of creating whole-life disciples of Christ. Here are some of the highlights from 2023.
Our third parish pilgrimage in our Education Travel Series took 32 of us to bonny ol' England for a 12-day adventure, touring castles and cathedrals of our Anglican roots. Even though our Episcopal/Anglican sect began with Henry VIII in the 16th century, we explored sites even further back to the time of St Augustine, who visited English shores in the 4th century.
Christ Church Children's programs raise up kids who love Jesus and seek to serve Him in all areas of life. The Children's Ministry offers supervised Biblical learning in a joyful and child-centered environment. Some highlights of 2023 include noticeable growth in our Nursery program.
It has been a fun and exciting semester as I have jumped into the youth ministry at Christ Church. I was delighted to accept the position of Youth Coordinator in July. I have never experienced a church or staff quite like Christ Chruch. You are a unique and lovely people! As a native Texan, there has been much to learn about Colorado.
Treasureland Preschool celebrates the joy of childhood and the power of learning through play. We believe in fostering curiosity, digging in the dirt with good friends, relationship-based early childhood learning, and hands-on exploration as a conduit for children’s discovery of their world, and the incredible value of working together to support young children and their families.
In January 2023 I accepted the call to be the newly formed Pastoral Care Coordinator at Christ Church Denver. Having never done this type of work before, I was a tad terrified, but now one year later, I am a little less terrified but so thankful to be serving in this capacity.
After 12 years of dedicated service as our Outreach Chair, Christi James stepped down and Steve Petty will be taking over as the leader of the Outreach Commission. The biggest change to the coming year is the addition of an "Outreach table" to the commons.
We praise God from whom all blessings flow! Christ Church finished the fiscal year with a positive net income of $93,899. This extraordinary result is due in large part to revenue being higher than anticipated and expenses being lower than estimated.

I would like to start with a personal update. This February JoEllen will be two years out since her last chemo infusion. She is in full remission, healthy and getting back to life. After five years cancer free she will be declared “cured”.
